In the first episode of our new series with Paradigma, called the Book Talks, we are joined by Prof. Marijke Breuning and Prof. John Ishiyama to talk about their new book titled “How to Get Published in the Best Political Science and International Relations Journals: Understanding the Publishing Game” which was published on September 2021 by Edward Elgar Publishing.

Prof. John Ishiyama, University of North Texas

John Ishiyama is a Distinguished Research Professor of Political Science at University of North Texas. Prof. Ishiyama is currently the president of the American Political Science Association and Piper Professor of Texas. He specializes on Comparative Politics: democratization and political parties in post communist Russian, European, Eurasian and African (especially Ethiopian) politics, ethnic conflict and ethnic politics, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. He was also the editor in chief of the American Political Science Review 2012-2016. 

Prof. Marijke Breuning, University of North Texas

Marijke Breuning is a Professor of Political Science at the University of North Texas. She earned her PhD at the Ohio State University. She specializes in foreign poilcy analysis, with a specific interest in development cooperation and small states, as well as the politics of international children’s rights (and especially intercountry adoption), women/gender and politics, and the sociology of the profession. She served as editor of the American Political Science Review (2012-2016). Previously, she served as a member of the inaugural editorial team of Foreign Policy Analysis (2005-2009), co-editor of the Journal of Political Science Education (2005-2012), and book review editor of International Politics (2000-2003).

Erman Ermihan, Kadir Has University

Erman Ermihan is a PhD student at Kadir Has University, Department of International Relations. After completing his undergraduate education at the same department at Istanbul Bilgi University, he received his master’s degree in Political Science from Sabancı University. His research interests include Turkey-European Union relations, Turkish Foreign Policy and identity and emotions in foreign policy.

Senem Görür, Kadir Has University

Senem Görür was born in Istanbul in 1996. Görür received her undergraduate degree from Istanbul Okan University, Department of International Relations (English) in 2019. After her undergraduate education, Görür continues her studies at Kadir Has University, Department of Political Science and Public Administration. In addition to her academic studies, Görür is currently working as a reporter at Medyascope TV. Görür, who is mainly interested in foreign news on Medyascope TV, prepares and presents a weekly program called Kordiplomatik. Görur’s areas of interest include Turkish political life and political communication.
